BOOTS Wellbeing Walks

What is BOOTS?

BOOTS stands for Benefits of Outdoor Therapy for Stress.

BOOTS walks were created for people experiencing stress who would benefit from slowing down, spending time in nature and stepping away from the demands of everyday life. These guided wellbeing walks use nature, gentle movement and a mindful approach to help participants engage more deeply with the natural world.

Who Are These Walks For?

Designed for people experiencing stress, overwhelm, or the pressures of modern life.

If your mind doesn’t switch off, you find yourself stuck in your thoughts, or you simply need time away from the constant demands of everyday life, these walks offer an opportunity to slow down and spend time in nature.

What Can I Expect?

The guided walks are immersive and designed to help you step out of your thoughts and into the natural environment.

We take time to notice the things we often miss: birdsong in the trees, the scent of the changing seasons, the texture of bark, sunlight filtering through the leaves, or the simple feeling of being outdoors.

Explore the miniature worlds all around us, from lichens and mosses to insects and other details that most people never notice.

Each session combines a gentle walk with opportunities to pause, observe, and connect with nature.

BOOTS Walks Offer:

  • Small, supportive groups
  • A gentle pace
  • Time to slow down and observe
  • Activities that encourage curiosity and observation
  • Opportunities to disconnect from technology and daily distractions
  • Space to relax, reflect and enjoy nature

Why Nature?

Many people find that spending time outdoors helps them feel calmer, more present and better able to cope with the stresses of daily life. BOOTS walks create the space for those benefits to arise naturally through being outdoors and engaging with nature.

About Your Walk Leader

I am a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and have worked in mental health services for over 35 years.

BOOTS grew from a belief that we have become disconnected from the natural world. By stepping away from the demands, distractions, and noise of everyday life and spending time outdoors, we can begin to slow down, switch off, and reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

A Gentle Note

While BOOTS walks are informed by my experience of working in mental health services, they are not therapy and are not a replacement for professional support.
